Jeff Pevar

Jeff Pevar is an American musician who has recorded and toured with hundreds of renowned artists and recently embarked on a solo career of his own. Jeff recorded a debut record on his label Pet Peev Music™, called "From The Core" which was released on 12/12/12. The story surrounding the recording is a unique one. Jeff initially was asked to supply music for a PBS documentary on the Oregon Caves. After agreeing to score the documentary Jeff was asked if he would like to record the music IN THE CAVES THEMSELVES! On October 6, 2010 Jeff took a six string acoustic guitar and an 8 string mandocello into the Oregon Caves National Monument and improvised 12 songs in 3 hours while being filmed and recorded. The acoustic music recorded there is used for the PBS/SOPTV documentary "The Marble Halls of Oregon" .
Shortly thereafter, Jeff was contacted by the folks at the National Parks to see if he would consider releasing this music improvised in the caves as a CD that could be sold in the National Parks. Jeff decided to take the acoustic tracks to his home studio and overdubbed other various acoustic instruments that he also plays, guitars, mandolin, fretless bass, percussion, harmonica and many others. As the project evolved Jeff invited some special guests including the iconic vocalist of YES, Jon Anderson, to co-write and sing on the song "River of Dreams" with Jeff. The release is getting rave reviews and is currently only available through Jeff's website at www.pevar.com
Jeff also composes music for film scores also produces other artists.
In 2015 Jeff's 2nd CD production, "Grateful Jazz" was released on Jeff's Label "Pet Peev Music". This Jazz Is Dead project began for Jeff on the heels of touring with Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh and Friends in 2000, where Jeff was required to become familair with over 70 Dead songs for the tour which included 6 performances at NYC's Beacon Theater. Shortly after his tenure with Phil and Friends, Jeff was invited to tour with the ensemble, Jazz Is Dead, which is an interpretive ensemble offering unique instrumental renditions of Grateful Dead compositions, performed by accomplished "jazz" musicians. When Jeff joined the ensemble JID, it consisted of keyboard master, T Lavitz (The Dregs) , Drummer extraordinaire, Rod Morgenstein (The Dregs/Winger) and iconic bassist Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report/Bobby & The Midnights). Thrilled at the opportunity of being part of such an esteemed ensemble with such accomplished musicians, Jeff became proactive in the arrangements of the material for the JID that tours he was part of. Numerous tours with Jazz Is Dead included other noteable musicians including Billy Cobham (Mahavishnu Orchestra), Kenny Gradney (Little Feat), Jerry Goodman (Mahavishnu Orchestra) and David Livolsi (John Scofield Band). In 2004, while also touring with Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jeff decided to take Jazz Is Dead into the Tapeworks Recording Studio, owned by his dear friend Doug Kupper, to record the ensemble including T Lavitz, Rod Morgenstien and bassist Dave Livolsi and document the unique arrangements that Jeff was so proud of. The band played much of the recorded versions live in the studio. As an afterthought, Jeff decided to bring in a few special guests to add some additional flavor to the recording project, including master percussionist Luis Conte (Phil Collins/James Taylor) Saxist Bill Evans (Miles Davis/Soulgrass), Howard Levy (Flecktones), Jerry Goodman, David Livolsi, Alphonso Johnson and multi-horn player/arranger Billy Holloman. As fate would have it, T Lavitz passed away in his sleep in 2010, before the release of this CD, so these recordings have a very special meaning as a tribute to T Lavitz's unique talents, and include some of his last recorded works. See (www.pevar.com ) for ordering info.
